"Carefor’s Feast of Fields 2021 was a sold-out, socially-distanced smash success"

At 5pm on the front lawn of Ottawa City Hall, volunteers were setting up for Carefor's sold-out Feast of Fields event on Wednesday night. Sound checks, taste tests, power cords being connected. A few VIPs had arrived. While the skies were grey, the mood was decidedly lighter.

“We’re able to properly celebrate with some of the communities that were hit hardest by the pandemic,” said event organizer Robin Duetta. “Seeing the Ottawa chef community come back and pair up with the farmers who work so closely with them after such a tough couple of years is amazing. Watching them come together to raise money for caregivers and the elderly, two other groups hit hard by the pandemic—I can’t imagine being anywhere else today.”

Togetherness and community were the buzzwords on everyone’s lips as local chefs set up their booths with tantalizing offerings showcasing the best our region’s farmers have to offer.

Supporting Caregivers

giving back

The funds raised during this event will go to support programs that aid Caregivers across Ottawa. Few have endured more during COVID than our community’s Caregivers, and your ticket price will go to making sure they get the home health care and dementia support programs they need to keep on giving.

Carefor Health & Community Services (formerly Victorian Order of Nurses) is Ontario’s largest and oldest home healthcare and community support charity. As a charity, Carefor relies on the generosity of people like you to offer high quality services to those in need.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the elderly population the hardest, making the health-related challenges of aging even more difficult and scary to manage.

Carefor’s Feast of Fields is an opportunity to give back and take care of the generation that took care of us.

FAQ

Are there any COVID-19 precautions or protocols I should know about?

In light of the changing reality of COVID-19 and to ensure the health and safety of all guests and vendors, we are making a few changes to our protocols to allow for the safest and most relaxed experience at this year's much-anticipated Feast of Fields event.

We require all guests to provide proof of receiving a double COVID-19 vaccination, in the form of either a physical or digital record (the second dose must have been administered a minimum of 14 days prior to the event).  Please bring this proof with you to the event.

If you are experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home and recover.

We also ask you to wear your masks at the event when not eating or drinking.

We understand some may not appreciate our decision, but our goal is to create an event that ensures the health and safety of all. The past year and a half has been challenging not only for Feast of Fields but for all public events. In an attempt to return to something close to normal we have chosen to follow the best practices outlined by the province, our local health authorities, and those of similar events and festivals being operated in our city this fall and winter.

What you can expect from us:

- Hand washing and sanitization stations and increased health and safety measures.

- Visual reminders to maintain social distance and wear a mask when necessary.

- Extra masks and other Personal Protective Equipment on-site.

For those who are not able to follow our COVID-19 health and safety protocols, we will happily refund their ticket.

Is the event outdoors? What happens if it rains?

Yes, the event is taking place outside on the Rink of Dreams at Ottawa City Hall. Rain or shine the event will take place! We have a large tent covering the event space.

Is there parking close by?

Ottawa City Hall parking garage is available and accessible. On the night of the event the rate for parking before 6pm is $2.00 per 30 min, and after 6pm it is $1.00 per hour.

I can no longer attend, can I get a refund?

Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds. Remember, as a fundraising event, proceeds from your ticket are directly supporting Carefor Dementia Day Programs!

I own a business and I'd like to sponsor this event or donate a gift, who should I talk to?

We'd love to hear from you! Send us an email at info@carefor.ca.
